Arcade Cabinet

Golden Axe MAME Cabinet
A few years ago, I found out about the MAME emulator. Then I found out about the hordes of crazy people building actual arcade cabinets to relive the experience of playing an actual cabinet. I thought to myself that I would never go that far… Here’s to show the extent of my resolve!I found this Arkanoid in a generic cabinet, so no guilt about converting it… It was 23″ wide on the inside, and I wanted it to be 24″ to allow for plenty of room for a 21″ TV.

I took it apart, kept only the sides, and bought new laminate boards to replace the middle parts. All I kept from the cabinet was the side panels, and the coin door. Everything else was trashed or went to e-bay!The control panel was brought to a metal shop, and 2 new (wider) panels were made to replace it

  • Panel #1: 2 players – 8-way joysticks, 7 buttons for Fighting/NEO-GEO games.
  • Panel #2: 1 player – 4/8-way joystick, 4 buttons, trackball and spinner for the Classics.Permanently installed on the cabinet are:
  • Player 1 and Player 2 buttons in front of the cabinet
  • Pinball buttons on each sides
